🧪 ā€œPristineā€ The Biodegradable Plastic Additive

Pristine is an organic biodegradable plastic additive that manufacturers blend into conventional plastics like EVA, PET, PE, PP, PVC, Nylon, Styrene, and others during production. It doesn’t change how the plastic performs during use (strength, clarity, shelf life) but is designed to help plastics biodegrade faster once in a microbe-enriched environment (e.g., landfill or marine settings).

How Pristine Works:

  • The additive promotes microbial biofilm formation on the plastic surface.

  • Microbes are attracted via quorum sensing, access the polymer chains, and metabolize them — turning long plastic chains into COā‚‚, water, biomass, and in anaerobic settings, methane.

  • The additive is typically used at low load rates (ā‰ˆ1% of the resin) and is intended to be compatible with existing processing equipment.
